Today so far…is a good day and I’m going out on a limb here to be an optimist – to take a leap of faith and bet my coins that the rest of the day will be too!
Aside from getting my winter tires installed at my local Costco this morning, two things arrived in the mail that has got me pumped up for the day.
1. Minimalist Details: A New Wallet
For the longest time since I can remember I had a terrible habit of freely carrying my cash and cards (credit and ID) in my front pocket which can get messy at times and dysfuntionally organized. IE: When checking out at the grocers “Whoops my client card is in my OTHER pants!” – Embarassing AF
Today, I finally solved this problem. I’d like to argue that I’m a minimalist so I opted to bidding farewell to my chunky old leather big-mac. Got myself a new wallet.
So what’s the scoop? A wallet is a wallet, whats the big deal? – I am aware of a number of minialist wallets out there and it took me a few months of research to finally come to a conclusion and I’m glad I settled on the Bellroy Card Pocket. It can hold up to 20 cards (glad as hell I don’t) and will set you back a slightly pretty penny but I’m getting the feeling it’ll pay back in dividends over the lifetime of this wallet. More information coming up soon on a product review!
2. God Tier Figure Inbound
Good Smile Company’s 1/8 Ultimate Madoka is now in Canada and in a box inside another box next to a box which happens to be a Figma counterpart on a truck with a crazy Canada Post driver who is taking her to the local post office for me to pay YET ANOTHER fee, I got dinged 3 times in the last 3 orders for customs. Bad luck or new import rules? I mean it’s already bad enough with the weak Canadian dollar but Christ, my hobby is ridiculously getting expensive!
As some of you may know, I operate a non-profit group dedicated to Anime, call it a club if you will which has been a pilot project I have self started back in late October which has grown to a respectable 11 members but I digress, as you may have seen in my previous post, I used to be quite the avid drawer.
The reason I bring this up is because we are hosting a draw-off based on a mutually agreed reference picture (an Santa Alter Saber) and we are all set to show it off this Sunday.
In the heat of things and given my erratic time schedule, I elected to nail it the same night and I think I managed to pull it off to some degree albeit at the expense of my sleep and sore hands.
The results? Not as shabby as I thought it’d turn out. Frankly speaking , I haven’t really quite lifted a pencil to draw in a long time! I’m rather proud of it I do say so myself and its given me a bit of motivation to start drawing seriously again. Perhaps this winter holiday is the excuse I need to get the ball rolling once more!
